I am back with a new partner, before i get on with it i should explain how this blog works. Every week there will be different members of OGG doing this blog so expect a variety of different writing.
Now lets get on with it

Our peas have grown!
Our peas have grown quite fast and our chile’s have germinated and are starting to grow as well. It seems that we are going to have a lot of food this summer!

The chillies have germinated!
And finally last week we were finally able to visit the allotments to see the green fields. Unfortunately I had to watch from a distance as I took too long eating and missed it but the good news is next monday we will be going there again after school to plant our peas ( and chiile’s hopefully)…
Well that’s all for this week with any luck I may be back next week to blog again but like I said there should be different members writing so see ya whenever…

You don’t need a big allotment plot to grow your own fruit and vegetables… You don’t even need a garden! There are many things you can do with the smallest of spaces. Why not give it a try this year! It is very rewarding to watch a plant grow from seed into a vegetable-bearing plant that you can harvest for your dinner plate!
BBC’s Dig In website is full of ideas, tips, tricks and advice for the first-time grower with easy to follow video tutorials on how to get started and how to care for your plants… You can even order FREE SEEDS online if you hurry!!!

Operation Get Green started brilliantly this year with new members from year 7 and a few helpers from year 11.
As the new year kicked in a few year 7’s brought in some toilet tubes and some home-made newspaper tubes made by me! With help from some students from my form bringing in the supplies we couldn’t have done it without their help. There are a lot more year 7 showing an interest.

OGG's pea-sowing army!
Using the toilet tubes and newspaper tubes, we filled them with soil and then planted the pea seed,After we done that we “dibbed” them with a dibber and collected them to make a whole bunch of new fresh peas to eat in the summer.
Now we await their emergence!

Morrisons - Let's Grow Voucher Scheme
Debden Park is aiming to get more pupils raking in the benefits of the great outdoors this year and is calling on Debden and Loughton locals to help!
Let’s Grow is a scheme run by Morrisons to enable schools to exchange vouchers collected in store for free gardening equipment, which is being used to help Debden Park pupils learn more about where their food comes from by growing their own fresh fruit and veg!
With the equipment the school hopes to buid upon the continuing development of our allotment site to grow fresh vegetables for the school and to educate our pupils on growing and cooking of local produce.
People shopping at Morrisons in the coming weeks will be offered a ‘Let’s Grow’ voucher with every £10 they spend in store and Debden Park will then redeem these vouchers for as much gardening equipment as possible. Vouchers collected can be handed into Debden Park High School.
This year, we aim to collect as many vouchers as humanly possible and we really hope that parents, teachers and members of the community will help us out by handing in their vouchers to us.
Mr Cavanagh, Headteacher at Debden Park High School, said: “This is a great opportunity for our pupils to learn where food comes from, as well as giving them a chance to continue learning outside the classroom.”

Finally a dedicated space to chart our progress…
Following the tragic loss of our original blog site (that’s free hosting for you!), we have finally managed to secure our own dedicated name and space on the super-information highway!
Please check back here soon as I will endeavour to upload some articles and photos which will inform you of our activities. Our first priority will be to update our allotment diary! Back soon!
